![]() ![]() Kids love to play in the dirt. This project is a perfect way to give kids an introduction to gardening. Ages: 4 and older SUPPLIES Large, clean aluminum cans (I used 29-ounce tomato sauce cans) Craft paint Hammer and large nail Varied sizes of paint brushes Small herb plants Potting soil Craft sticks Construction or scrapbook paper Scissors Marker Glue PLANTER DIRECTIONS 1. Wash and dry aluminum cans. Make sure rim is clear of all sharp edges. 2. Turn can over. Have a parent make several holes for drainage in the bottom of the can using hammer and nail. 3. Paint a white base coat over the outside of can. Let dry. Repeat. 4. Use brushes and colorful craft paint to decorate the outside with any design you would like. 6. Plant herbs in can using potting soil. HERB MARKER DIRECTIONS 1. Paint both sides of a craft stick. Let dry. 2. Cut out fun shapes from construction or scrapbook paper. 3. Write name of herb on paper with marker. 4. Glue paper to stick. Let dry. 5. Insert your marker into the soil. Add a comment |
